Why is My Refrigerator Leaking Water?
If you’ve walked across your kitchen recently and asked yourself, “Why is my refrigerator leaking water?,” it probably hasn’t been a very good day! A puddle underneath your refrigerator can be distressing.
Check Our Your Defrost Pan
If you are unfamiliar with the location of your defrost pan, you’re not alone. Fortunately, most people don’t have trouble locating it. You simply have to remove the cover panel from the bottom of your refrigerator. If the pan there looks broken in any way, it could be letting water out onto your floor.
You can make adjustments if:
- The pan is out of place.
- Your refrigerator is not level.
- Your refrigerator is wobbly.
The defrost drain pan is used when your refrigerator is in its defrost cycle. It’s essential to have it replaced if it is damaged.
Examine Your Defrost Drain
If your defrost drain pan looks normal, take a look at your defrost drain. This drain can be clogged by food, ice or dust, just to name a few things. To look at the drain, you should first unplug your refrigerator. To locate it, you must look at your owner’s manual or search for it online. If you’re comfortable with a repair, you can try to clear the drain pipe yourself. The experts at Combat are always willing to give you a helping hand when things get confusing!
Is Your Water Dispenser or Ice Maker the Culprit?
To check to see if one of these devices is faulty, first unplug your refrigerator, if you haven’t already. Then check every line in the system for damage.
There is quite a lot to take a look at, and small cracks can be hard to miss. Even if you inspect very closely and don’t see anything, that doesn’t mean there isn’t damage.
